Moon OreI remember watching a show on discovery or some channel that was talking about polar shifts in magnetic north and how it has reversed itself many times and they can see a kind of 'record' over time by examining lava core samples and seeing what way the iron in the lava pointed when it cools down (apparantly it orientates towards magnetic north).
anyways this got me thinking that if there is a moon base and they are mining there, shouldn't there be some way we can tell if the latest battleship or destroyer was made from ore that was mined on earth or ore that was mined on the moon? There must be certain proprties at a molecular level that would let you know (traces of iridium/etc)
If they have been running this base for a long time they must have mined an awful lot by now, what are they donig with all of it?
Are we building a gigantic colony mothership? I imagine it would take a lot of ore to do something like that...was the moon perhaps towed into our orbit to provide an offworld resource center for building our first intergalactic starship?
